Yeah, I have to agree 3,000 is a bit too much to ask in 1 1/2 months. From reading the article, things sound promising that we will get a team next year, even if we do fall short in the season ticket drive.
Everything appears to be in place to get a team here.....SMG, Worcester, and the AHL wants a team here next season. The DCU Center already made plans to make it better economically here for a team. Worcester is also such a central, convenient location with 8 teams in easy driving distance. In the Worcester Hockey show from Channel 3, I remember them saying how other teams stayed in Worcester because of the city's great location.
With all this, I can't see why the AHL would pass Worcester up....I don't see any other places that would be better or even as good as Worcester. Last year's attendance average was still better than some of the team's this year....so I can't see why the AHL or any ownership group wouldn't put a team here.
But, as for the season ticket drive, I will honestly say that I don't think our goal will be reached. But I hope people will prove me wrong, I really do.
Does anyone know of any other cities that are holding season ticket pledge drives, besides us and Cincinnati (for their team they already have)?
