Hi all, We had great success writing letters to the editor last year about getting AHL hockey back to Worcester, and it's time again to write in!
This is our biggest chance to get hockey back and we need to do everything to spread the word.
So this weekend and next week, let's all write in to both papers, and tell them what AHL Hockey means to you, what it means to the city, and the community. If you need help writing - let me know.
The more people that write in will show the citizens in Worcester County that this is an important issue for us all.
Please go to the bottom of http://www.saveourhockey.com/howyoucanhelp.html
to see where to write in, and instructions.
Lets pull out all the stops! We can do it! |

I just sent mine in and it didn't take much time at all. Just let everyone know that you want hockey back and that the time to act is now. We need as much exposure as possible and this is an easy way to help. |

When you write be sure to conform to the paper's policies. They won't publish something that is clearly and ad. They will take letters that talk about the impact that a team would have, talks about the actions taken by the city or DCU center, and that urges businesses and individuals to take action. A 'wake up Worcester, its time to act' kind of message probably fits as well.
They will not publish website addresses, phone numbers, prices, etc. as that is viewed as advertising.

Two terrific letters made it into this morning's Telegram. If you want to send a letter but aren't sure what to say, here are great examples.
BTW, they seem willing to publish a bit more on the 'advertising' side than I'd been led to believe, maybe because of the civic component to this versus purely private enterprise.

If you write to the T&G via email, in the Subject Line please use the word "LETTER" only so it will be directed to the correct person. I had submitted my letter 3 times starting November 25 before it was published --- it had to wait its turn. If you are going to write, please do it as soon as possible so it will be published before December 31. |
