I was not planning on it:
1. Peoria is not the most exciting place on earth.
2. I'd rather wait to see them close by here mabey during playoff or somthing. |

Me- no. I wouldn't go see them. They're going to be mostly our players next year, but not for long. The reality is that AHL teams reach near 100% player turnover in about 3 years. The Rivemen may reach it even faster given that St. Louis' pre-lockout stance was that they were going to be a young inexpensive team; (translate: call up the AHLers). Given that, why go to Illinois to see a bunch of guys that would have been ours? Assuming the NHL gets a decent TV deal or you get Center Ice, we'll be able to see our guys on TV.
I may see a game in Peoria eventually, simply because I love to travel and see new teams and arenas. I will do plenty of that next year, but Peoria isn't on the radar yet- too many other places between here and there. If you are someone who likes this game, I'd encourage you to do the same. If you've only seen games in Worcester and our immediate rival cities (lowell, springfield, providence, hartford, etc) I'd encourage you to venture out and see something new. With no team next year, it will be a great opportunity. Don't limit yourself to the AHL either. We have a New England presence for UHL, College, and QMJHL. The ECHL isn't far in PA or NJ either. I added 7 new arenas this season (Danbury & Glens Falls in the UHL, Trenton in the ECHL, Philly, Binghamton, Syracuse & Rochester in the AHL, and Holy Cross in college ranks). I intend to add another 4-8 stops next year. |

I have gone to other places, i do intend to go to a particular team in the AHL next year, and I have gone to 20 of the AHL teams currently listed for next year. I didn't mind the city of Peoria when i went out their last year. I think it would be a good long weekend trip, considering its columbus day, so on that sunday i could also see chicago, milwaukee, or grand rapids. I have gone to BC, BU, Northeastern, UMass Lowell, and Amhearst games, and plan on seeing Degon play in UMASS Amhearst this year alot. I just thought it would be a nice trip, because I was friendly with some of the guys. I know in 3 years I would care less what Peoria does. |
