I know we can't get them here (Worcester's in the Bruins territory) but I do hope the move the team - to the farthest place from St. Louis. Siberia sounds right. ::::evil grin::::

The current owners still own & operate the team. If a new owner is not found, the league would most likely step in a run the team until they find an owner- as was the case with Buffalo.
As of now the current owners have not walked away. The only way this would impact Peoria is if the new or existing owners looked to save cost and chose not to have an entire team's worth of AHL Salaries and looked for a dual affiliation somewhere. I would hope this is not the case, because that would have the Blues Management doing to Peoria fans what they just did to us. Note to Blues Mgt- Grow some balls and brains to work out your financial problems instead of running away from them.
This whole thing irritates me in a sense that the Blues sold us claiming that they were loosing $750K-$1M/year. ....that's a speck of red ink compared to what they were/are loosing up top. If they were breaking even or turning proffit up to, and the Cats were dragging them down into the red, that's one thing... but what did selling us do to help that bad of a cash problem? |

I heard on Cold Pizza on ESPN last week that they are building a new arena in Kansas City and are looking to move either an NBA or a NHL franchise. If they get a local owner in that area I wouldn't be to surprised if the Blues end up going there. |

Blues sign coach Kitchen to new deal
6/22/2005 4:05:29 PM
ST. LOUIS - The St. Blues announced today that the club has agreed to terms with head coach Mike Kitchen on a one-year contract through the 2005-06 National Hockey League season.
"Mike inherited a somewhat difficult situation with 21 games remaining in the 2003-04 season, but he did an outstanding job of steering us into the playoffs," said Blues GM Larry Pleau. "We very much look forward to having Mike return for a full NHL season as the Blues' head coach and giving him the opportunity to execute his overall vision for this team and a plan for success |

Online casino wants to buy the Blues
7/6/2005 10:26:15 AM
An online casino group has submitted a letter of intent to purchase the St. Louis Blues of the NHL.
Casino Fortune, which is headquartered in Trinidad, says it notified Blues owner Bill Laurie and the NHL about its intention to purchase the team but has yet to hear back from anyone.
This is not the first time Casino Fortune has attempted to buy a sports team. Previous offers to purchase the Cleveland Cavaliers and Phoenix Suns were dismissed as irrelevent by NBA commissioner David Stern.
The online gaming company previously offered developer Donald Trump $400-million for a share of his casino company and they once tried to buy a seat on the space shuttle from NASA.
Company president Dennis Rose tells the St. Louis Post Dispatch he can understand people's skepticism about their offer.
"Occasionally we've had problems," said Rose of his past failed attempts. "Some years ago people were a little bit cynical about the revenues with online gaming. Now they're convinced how big it has become."
Even if the offer is legitimate, it's hard to see the NHL agreeing to sell one of its teams to a company whose primary income is gambling, especially since it takes a negative view towards betting on NHL games.
But Rose says his company does not accept wagers of any kind on sporting events.
"We are one of the few online casinos that don't allow any wagers on sports events, and that is because our business model has always anticipated us buying a sports team in the U.S.," Rose says in a prepared release. |

I hope they get them. The NHL is probably too PC, but I hope they get them. I'll always be rooting for former 'Cats, but the Blues organization can rot for all I care! |

Ya know I can understand your dissappointment, we've had our team yanked from us too (in a sense). While ECHL level may not be grand for many of you, to us loyals it was. While they kept the name "Peoria Rivermen" It's BY FAR the Rivermen to me. It's the "Ice Cats" Under a new name. While it'll be nice to see some of our former (ECHL) Rivermen again, I'm sad to see our coach and faithful players go. However, I've been an Ice Cats fan as well, you're vindicition against Peoria and St Louis shouldn't be. It's time for growth and we have a LARGE hockey base here in fans and sponsors. Never fear, your ice cats will rise to the challenge I"m sure. Continue to be a fan and cheer them on :) |

I bear no ill will to the folks in Peoria. I can't say the same thing for the Blues front office.
Based on the many people I've spoken to most couldn't care less when the Rivermen do this year. |

Well honestly speaking, If you all don't care how the Rivermen do this year, can't be true Fans. I'm not trying to stir anything up or be anything but honest here. I just think regardless of where they go They're still the same team you've followed for 11 years. Yes they're in Peoria, we still have a team however it's NOT the same team I've been following for several years. Some of our "fans" are not returning as season ticket holders because of the change. Many people are not happy about it. But the way i see it, is Growth. We can still follow our favorites regardless where they are. I followed many ECHL players when they left or were called up, Here or there I'm a fan!!! I hope you all can get over the Ill feelings you have and continue to support the players and coaches that you have for so many years. That in my definition is a TRUE FAN. |

Dawn, that's a real easy sentiment to espouse when you have a local team to support. Try it sometime when you lose hockey altogether. I'd lay good odds you'll be singing a different tune.
